TESTIMONIAL I’ve never written a testimonial before probably because I’ve never felt the need. You have already started to read so that means that like me, you have a love for boats. In my profession as a Head of Department Technology in a Secondary School I also appreciate quality workmanship. I must admit that I have been a glass boat man all of my life and I am the very proud owner of a 1996 5.0 metre Seafarer V-Sea. If you know anything about these boats you will know that they are an excellent sea boat and their design with the half pod and heavy construction allows them to handle the worst conditions and still look after everyone on board.
Today I had the
experience of joining Jason Norup and his father
Graeme on the sea trial of Jason’s latest design, his 5.2
metre plate alloy Reef Master. I was also enthusiastic about
checking the performance of the 90 HP Evinrude
Etec Jason has fitted up to his new baby. The
first time I saw this boat I
Now the boat. I remember when I first took my V-sea for a run on Moreton Bay. The first thing I noticed was how soft she was through the chop. Let me tell you today has changed my mind about tinnies or at least plate boats for ever. As soon as Jason got her up on the plane I realized that this was as good if not better than my V-sea. Jason gave me a drive to compare.
The sea out from Pt.
Cartwright was lumpy and lots of boats were coming home. I reckon we were
looking at about 1-1.5 metres of swell and a
freshening North Easterly. I would have been going home too but we were
there to see what this You know when you go up a big swell outside and you look out over the bow and it feels like the bow of the boat is about to drop back top earth without the rest of it. We did this all morning and rarely did this boat slap back to earth. When it did it was only because Jason was driving this thing like a madman.
Look I’m certainly no
expert with boats, but I know enough to say that if I was in the market for a
new boat I reckon I would have Jason weld me one of these up to
What about the creature comforts? This boat was Jason’s deluxe model with toilet, sink, deck wash etc.
My son once joined a neighbour in his tinnie for a day on the bay and came home and said “Dad, don’t ever buy one!" Well son, these plate boats designed and built by Jason will change your mind forever.
Mal Kearney.
